Bio

Francesco Clemente, pittore italiano, nasce a Napoli nel 1952. E’ venuto alla ribalta a metà degli anni ’70 con dipinti vivaci e pieni di immagini erotiche raffiguranti parti del corpo mutilate. Affascinato dall’arte indiana e dal misticismo, i suoi dipinti gouache e disegni a pastello sono praticolarmente noiti per il loro intenso e arcano contenuto quasi religioso, che è dicvenuto sempre più surreale nelle sue ultime opere. Attualmente vive e lavora a New York e a Varanasi (IN).

Italian painter, Francesco Clemente born in 1952 in Napoli. He came to prominence in the mid-1970s with vivid paintings rife with erotic imagery of mutilated body parts. Fascinated with Indian art and mysticism, his gouache paintings and pastel drawings are especially noted for their intense and arcane quasi-religious content that has grown increasingly surreal in his later works. Currently he lives and work in New York and Varanasi (IN).
