This summer Umar Rashid aka Frohawk Two Feathers gives you a chance to explore history and storytelling through his own lens. Be ready to challenge your imagination and open your mind by visiting the Beyond the Streets on Paper exhibition in New York City.
‘Beyond the Streets On Paper’ is both a historical homage to the earliest mark makers and rule breakers and a celebration of an essential practice seen throughout contemporary art. The show explores experimental processes to imaginative works seen on paper from artists who trained in, and were inspired by graffiti, street art, hip-hop, punk rock, zines and underground art.’
However, if you do not have a chance to visit Southampton Arts Center in New York, there is a great opportunity to discover Umar’s works in Europe. Currently in Studio d’Arte Raffaelli there are on view wonderful artworks which were created by the artist over the past few years.
The main focus of his artworks are the stories and reinvented history of black people, who are often marginalized and omitted from the historical record, and the intricacies of race, gender, class, and overall power in the colonial world. In the process of writing and illustrating his stories, the artist creates alternative narratives with a focus on religion and spirituality.
We recommend you not to miss a chance to get acquainted with works of Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based artist – Umar Rashid.
