The intimate and sheltered space of SENSO overlooks Lake Garda, offering a different perspective on the world.
It is an elevated viewpoint that restores a sense of wholeness and strength to a landscape of unmistakable natural power.
It was here that I envisioned the series “Waiting the Re-emerge”, a visual narrative of suspension that I hope will inspire those who find their way to this nest.
People inhabit the lake in many ways, but most often by tracing its shoreline—that slender boundary between the submerged world, between what can be measured and what is infinite.
Within this liminal space, I imagined a single moment—one instant among many—that either anticipates or follows something about to happen, portraying a subject we can only sense, because it is not depicted in the painting.
This is the setting: a slow day, when the lake lies perfectly still.
As the wind shifts, from north to south and back again, the water becomes a mirror. People pause to contemplate, partly absorbed, partly distracted.
A great crested grebe dives beneath the surface to hunt. Everything comes to a standstill. No one knows where it will reappear.
Federico Lanaro’s art project is on display at Chef Alfio Ghezzi’s restaurant SENSO, located in Limone against the picturesque backdrop of Lake Garda.
The centerpieces—conceived, designed, and crafted specifically for this space—reflect a fruitful collaboration that fosters an exchange between culinary culture and the art world.
