Fascinated by the rooms of Palazzo Wolkenstein, where the Raffaelli Art Studio is based, and influenced by the legend according to which Mozart would have played in his halls, Hu Zi decides to pay homage to the Austrian musician through a series of works with a dreamy character. However, the artist is not limited to a simple re-enactment of the Austrian composer; her vision is broadened by opening a glimpse of contemporary music, and by combining the genius of Mozart with two of the most acclaimed figures on the British music scene: Jarvis Cocker and Liam Gallagher. It is a modus operandi of Hu Zi to draw inspiration from icons of the world, now of cinema, now of music, now of literature to activate a process of exchange and artistic comparison between oneself and the other, between different worlds and temporal dimensions, but in able to become contaminated, like classical music and rock.
Mozart will inaugurate at the Raffaelli Art Studio in Trento on Thursday 5 October 2017 at 6.30 pm and will be set up until 7 January 2018. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog with the artist’s texts.
