The Trentino contemporary art galleries Studio d’Arte Raffaelli and Cellar Contemporary are pleased to announce their participation in the Cultural Olympiad, the Milano Cortina 2026 project that connects art and sport through events, exhibitions, and other cultural initiatives within a rich program spread across the entire Italian territory.
The exhibitions currently on view at the galleries—respectively the solo show Alpensinfonie by Gian Marco Montesano at Studio d’Arte Raffaelli and Let it Snow by Simone Tribuiani at Cellar Contemporary—represent an intersection between humankind and the mountain landscape as expressed through winter sports, explored by both artists through the medium of painting.
While Gian Marco Montesano’s works continue to surprise with the freshness of his gaze and the perspectives chosen to depict the mountain and its inhabitants, Simone Tribuiani’s practice stands out for his original choice of formats and supports—primarily panels made from wood sourced from the shipyards of Cesenatico—and for his ability to identify and convey small idylls set in the snow. Montesano, considered one of the leading Italian figurative painters since the 1970s, and the younger Tribuiani, who explores art and sports subculture in all its forms, are profoundly different artists—first and foremost in terms of generation, but also in the outcomes of their respective visual languages. What unites them, however, is their shared ability to represent the spirit of sport with grace and delicacy, narrating customs and society within contemporary history.
Beginning with their titles, the two exhibitions offer interpretative keys through which to read the sporting endeavor in the mountains: with Alpensinfonie, Gian Marco Montesano references the classical music of Strauss, guiding the public along a slow and poetic journey across immersive, snow-covered ridgelines; with Let it Snow, Simone Tribuiani alludes to the contagious euphoria of the Christmas season and the time of winter holidays, evoking a vacation-like atmosphere in which major sporting events provide yet another reason to embrace winter.

The exhibition can be visited Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and on Saturdays preferably by appointment, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Please note that from February 4 to February 9, 2026, the exhibition will be partially dismantled; it will be fully open again starting February 10, 2026.
