Misaki Kawai

On the occasion of the fifth Ikea Art Event, the Swedish group presents a limited-edition collection combining the art of tapestry, carpet craftsmanship, fashion, street culture and contemporary design.
Eight creatives have designed as many carpets, thinking of them as everyday objects but also as objects of art.
Among them, Misaki Kawai, a contemporary Japanese artist, explains that she finds her inspiration in funny, silly and furry things – one of the reasons why she relished the opportunity to create this carpet. The artist is pleased with how the design turned out, the carpet is comfortable and has beautiful colours, and also with the fact that the object is aimed at such a wide audience, finally inviting us to pet the big cats freely!
