From Oct. 21st, 2023, to April 1st, 2024, the two venues of Palazzo Gromo Losa and Palazzo Ferrero in Biella will host the exhibition Banksy, Jago, TvBoy and other countercurrent stories, realized thanks to the collaboration between Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella, its instrumental company Palazzo Gromo Losa s.r.l. in collaboration with the Comune di Biella e Artemisia, with main sponsor Biver Banca – Gruppo Banca di Asti and technical sponsor Wide Group.
Curated by Piernicola Maria Di Iorio and featuring 90 works, the exhibition tells stories “against the tide,” telling us about life, death, social injustice, and wars, narrated now with a mocking spirit, now with lyrical mastery or even with a decidedly attacking tone. What is certain is that the message is never trivial or obvious; it shakes consciences, outrages, moves. They have created a break with the classical references of the art world and its fruition, refusing to become part of a closed and exclusionary system. Ironically, these rebellious artists with their works and the narrative that identifies them, have become highly sought after and currently an increasing number of public and contemporary art museums and centers.
Starting at Palazzo Gromo Losa, the exhibition tour begins with the works of Jago, continuing with TvBoy, David LaChapelle, and Liu Bolin.
The exhibition then continues at Palazzo Ferrero, where works by Rizek, Pau, Andrea Ravo Mattoni, some canvases by Giuseppe Veneziano and Laika are on display.
It goes on with Mr. Brainwash, Laurina Paperina, Takashi Murakami, and Angelo Accardi.
Finally, outside, at the end of the exhibition, there are two sculptures by Marco Lodola.
All of them are protagonists of a public and social art that has now become an accessible, direct and denunciatory language, in which the viewer can identify with, because they speak of a contemporary reality that belongs to us.
The exhibition is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for many visitors to learn more about Biella, its territory and its outstanding gastronomic offerings.
