Contemporary Caravaggio

MART of Rovereto

09 October 2020 - 14 February 2021

From the 9th of October to the 14th of February 2021 the Mart museum in Rovereto hosts the exhibition Caravaggio. Il contemporaneo, which offers the opportunity to admire the Seppellimento di Santa Lucia, the first Sicilian work of Michelangelo Merisi, also known as Caravaggio. The artwork is currently located in Siracusa, at the Chiesa di Santa Lucia alla Badia. The Mart’s project highlights the spiritual modernity of Caravaggio through different possible levels of dialogue. The exhibition examines the huge modernity of Caravaggio’s language, making a dialogue between one of the most dramatic drawing of the master and two essential figures of the 20th century: the artist Alberto Burri and the poet Pier Paolo Pasolini. The exhibition Caravaggio. Il contemporaneo continues with follow-up focuses dedicated to visual artists, whose work recalls the aesthetics of Caravaggio: Nicola Samorì and Luciano Ventrone.
