Guido Polo

Natura morta, variazioni in grigio

An important rigor of geometric composition prevails in this work, punctuated by the orthogonal intersections of the supporting plane with the structures in the background. The clear, folded sheet determines a sloping field where the marked contours of the objects stand out. The presence of this element suggests a restlessness that is missed in other compositions by the presence of magazine images. A native of Borgo Valsugana, Guido Polo studied in Trento, Munich and Vienna. Also famous for his etchings, he was also the author of numerous watercolors of critical fortune. The work is published on page 87 of the catalog “Guido Polo,” edited by Danilo Eccher.
