James Brown è nato nel 1951 a Los Angeles, California. Agli inizi degli anni ’80, Brown si reca a New York, dove inizia la sua carriera con una mostra alla Tony Shafrazi Gallery. Il suo approccio all’arte è sia scientifico che spirituale: studia metodicamente ciascuna tecnica – pittura, ceramica, incisione – fino a quando non l’ha dominata completamente. Il suo lavoro fa anche parte di numerose collezioni private e pubbliche in tutto il mondo, tra cui il Museum of Modern Art, il Whitney Museum of American Art e il Metropolitan Museum of Art a New York, Stati Uniti; il Centre Georges Pompidou a Parigi, in Francia e il Kolumba Museum di Colonia, in Germania. L’artista attualmente vive e lavora tra Mérida, Messico e Parigi, Francia.

James Brown was born on October 26, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA. Early in the 1980s, James Brown lives in New York, where he begins his career with an exhibition at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery. His approach to art is both scientific and spiritual: he methodically studies each technique – painting, ceramics, engraving – until he has mastered it completely. .His work is also part of many important private and public collections worldwide, among them the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA; the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, France and the Kolumba Museum in Cologne, Germany. The artist currently lives and works between Mérida, Mexico and Paris, France.
