Negli “Overpainted Paintings” Peter Schuyff replica i suoi moduli geometrici al di sopra di dipinti trovati, perlopiù figurativi, reinterpretandoli e dando loro una veste nuova; l’effetto che ne scaturisce è quello di un’illusione ottica in un concettuale dialogo con l’autore dell’opera originale, che rimane sullo sfondo. 

L’opera proviene dalla galleria di Paul Kasmin, grandissimo estimatore dei suoi lavori su carta e della sua pratica di dipingere su opere trovate.

In the “Overpainted Paintings” Peter Schuyff replicates his geometric modules above found paintings, mostly figurative, reinterpreting them and giving them a new look; the resulting effect is that of an optical illusion in a conceptual dialogue with the author of the original work, which remains in the background. The work comes from the gallery of Paul Kasmin, a great admirer of his works on paper and his practice of painting on found works.
