L’artista Sudafricana Zanele Muholi da anni si batte con determinazione per i diritti delle persone omosessuali nel suo Paese dove le discriminazioni sono ancora forti. Nel 2008 lo Studio d’Arte Raffaelli presentò una mostra dell’artista con le fotografie delle serie “Being” (a colori), di cui fa parte l’opera ”Nomsa Mazibuko and Fondo”, e “Faces and Phases” (in bianco e nero), che annullano il cliché della donna nera colta dal punto di vista dell’eterosessualità predominante. L’artista Sudafricana nell’ultima edizione della Biennale di Venezia, dal titolo May You Live in Interesting Times e curata dal direttore americano Ralph Rugoff, mette in mostra i suoi grandi scatti in bianco e nero ripercorrendo la sua carriera e le origini del suo attivisimo.

The South African artist Zanele Muholi, for years, has been fighting with determination for the rights of homosexual people in her country where discrimination is still strong. In 2008 the Studio d’Arte Raffaelli presented an exhibition of the artist with photographs of the “Being” series (in color), which includes the work “Nomsa Mazibuko and Fondo”, and “Faces and Phases” (in black and white). The South African artist in the last edition of the Venice Biennale, entitled May You Live in Interesting Times and curated by the American director Ralph Rugoff, shows her great black and white shots remembering her career and the origins of her activism.
